Creation of South Downs National Park
The South Downs National Park, which has taken 60 years to come to fruition, will officially open on 31st March 2010 and will include over 320,000kms of footpaths. More than 120,000 people will live within the Park boundary and approximately eight million people live within one hour of its boundary.
It is expected that the South Downs National Park will become Englands most visited National Park, which will mean increased opportunities for property and land owners from the increase in tourism into the area. The expectation is that there will be a significant increase in the value of cottage rentals and also house prices as agents will inevitably make a play on National Park status.
